DESCRIPTION:Join us for the opening reception of an exhibition by Rigaud painter Mona Turner\, whose evocative paintings explore what it feels like to be within the landscape—not just observing it. Admission is free. \nLiving in a rural setting and spending time listening closely to the natural world\, Turner draws inspiration from the layered lives and energies that surround us: birds in motion\, everyday objects displaced from their usual contexts\, and moments that feel at once familiar and quietly mysterious. Her work invites us to slow down\, to notice\, and to reflect on how we inhabit our own environments. \nThrough figurative painting that sometimes blends elements of still life and landscape\, Turner creates scenes that hover between the recognizable and the implausible. This tension—between illusion and surface\, meaning and ambiguity—opens space for personal interpretation and contemplation. \nBorn in Métis Beach\, Québec\, Mona Turner studied graphic design at Dawson College and Studio Arts at Concordia University\, where she earned a BFA with distinction (1995). She exhibits regularly in the Montreal and Ottawa regions and has been actively involved in the local arts community\, including serving on the executive committees of Artistes Hudson Artists and the Hudson & Region Studio Tour. She is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists. \nAll are welcome. Come meet the artist\, enjoy a relaxed afternoon at the Hub\, and experience a body of work that offers a quiet meditation on presence\, perception\, and the beauty of the ephemeral.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special Songwriters Spotlight on Saturday\, January 17 celebrating the depth\, diversity\, and heart of Hudson’s local songwriting community. Please note this is a matinee show: doors at 1pm\, show at 2pm. \nInspired by the classic Nashville-style song circle\, this intimate concert brings ten local songwriters together on stage. Five artists at a time will share the spotlight\, taking turns performing two original songs each. Some will play solo\, others may support one another — creating a collaborative\, in-the-round experience where the songs (and the stories behind them) take centre stage. \nAll of this edition’s featured songwriters are familiar faces from the Microbrasserie Cardinal Sunday Songwriting Circle and monthly All Originals Open Mic — community spaces where new songs are nurtured\, workshopped\, and shared.
