Daniel Gautier : Retrospective

Born in Longueuil in 1957, Daniel Gautier began painting in oil at the age of 12 and took his first private painting lessons in Montreal. He then continued his training in various studios in Europe.
As a young adult, he bacame fascinated by the sea. He discovered the Magdalen Island in the Maritimes and settled there for fifteen years. Later on, Daniel Gautier lived in Hudson, at the Lac des Deux-Montagnes, and spent several months a year in the Maritimes.
Daniel Gautier is a painter of the sea and year after year, his stays in the Maritimes were essential rituals that highlighted all his work.

Né à Longueuil en 1957, Daniel Gautier commence la peinture à l’huile dès l’âge de 12 ans et suit ses premiers cours de peintures privés à Montréal. Plus tard, il poursuit sa formation dans divers studios en Europe.
Jeune adulte, la mer le fascine. Il découvre les Îles de la Madeleine et s’y installe pendant 15 ans. Par la suite, Daniel Gautier demeura à Hudson, au Lac des Deux-Montagnes, et séjourna plusieurs mois par année dans les Maritimes.
Daniel Gautier est un peintre de la mer et année après année, ses séjours dans les Maritimes étaient de véritables rituels qui rythmaient toute son oeuvre.
