Linda Standing has been a multi-disciplinary artist since childhood when her talents in dance, music, drawing, painting and storytelling were recognized and encouraged by her grandfather.
Self-taught, Linda works intuitively and draws energy from her own introspection, her imagined realities of a simpler rural identity and of an Amish family history. Only recently has she begun to offer her art for sale.
Her work is reminiscent of the folk art traditions of Grandma Moses and Maud Lewis.
Her vibrant, colourful scenes of simpler times, the everyday life of our pioneer ancestors, represent a variety of human and animal activities. Her love of farm life and animals, especially chickens and sheep, are evident as she captures the beauty of rural life.
Linda’s canvases are often recycled materials such old cupboard doors , tabletops and remmants of wood.
Linda’s art has been featured in numerous exhibitions and is popular with collectors.
Vernissage: Sunday, September 20 | 2 – 4 pm
