HUDSON CREATIVE HUB EVENT

OPERA AND BUBBLES

Date:    Sunday September 1st 2024

Time:    2 pm

Opera:  Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss II

You are invited to the Hub to enjoy this captivating operetta in a cabaret setting.   “Bubbly” wine and other refreshments will be available.

Die Fledermaus is one of the greatest operetta masterpieces by The Waltz King, Johann Strauss II, which premiered in 1874. This supreme piece of musical theatre exhilarates audiences with its beautiful waltzes, polkas, mistaken identities, satire and humour.

It’s New Year Eve and we are in the company of Rosalinde, who is determined to teach her philandering husband Eisenstein a lesson, even while she is being pursued by her former beau, the operatic tenor Alfred. At the centre of the action is the extremely wealthy, eternally bored Prince Orlofsky, whose lavish masked ball brings everything to a most delicious boil. But what if the whole plot has been a cunning plan masterminded by someone just to get back at Eisenstein? After much frivolity, the farce ends up with happiness for all.
