Financial Literacy Open House
We believe that financial literacy is a very important life skill. It should be taught to young children so they can start to understand about money, to teenagers so they can start to build a financial literacy foundation, to younger adults in their accumulating years, to older adults as they approach retirement and to retirees in their decumulating years. Each phase brings different challenges. Our goal to to offer a lecture series that will address financial topics for all age groups.

We are starting with an open house on November 18 and are inviting people from Hudson, Saint Lazare, Rigaud & Vaudreuil to drop in. We will have 6 tables with 6 different financial topics, representing different age groups:

At each table a person knowledgeable in his/her topic, will present the information, answer questions and assess the financial literacy needs. Based on information from the open house, we will determine the needs of the community and we will select topics which meet those needs. In January 2024, we hope to offer at least 6 lectures in the series, more if there is interest. While we realize that 2 hour sessions will not produce experts, our hope is that they will raise awareness in the principles of financial literacy, teach good financial habits and provide attendees with information, knowledge, tools & resources so they will have confidence in making informed decisions about their personal finances.
