Nature’s Web – A Contemporary Ballet

Join us on Saturday, September 19 for a matinee show at 2pm for this stunning contemporary ballet about the delicate connections between humans and the natural world.

Nature’s Web follows the trials and triumphs of a house spider through a visually immersive performance that blends dance, live music, and multimedia storytelling. Featuring video projections, six-metre-wide crocheted spiderweb installations, and live classical and folk music performed by young Quebec artists, the production transforms the stage into a dreamlike world inspired by nature.

Created by the Studio Balletvolution Company, this 60-minute intimate contemporary ballet brings together movement, emotion, and visual art in a way that is both accessible and deeply expressive.

Founded by choreographer Jessica Cumberbirch, the company is dedicated to making contemporary ballet approachable for new audiences by presenting work in welcoming, unconventional spaces. Drawing on her training at the renowned Vaganova Academy of Ballet, Jessica’s choreography places emotional storytelling at the centre of the performance — where character, atmosphere, and human connection matter just as much as technique.

Join us for an afternoon of live music, contemporary dance, and imaginative storytelling at the Hudson Creative Hub — a heartfelt artistic journey for curious audiences of all ages.

Performed by Jessica Cumberbirch. Live music by Ash Lex (songwriting, vocals), Rachel Dara (songwriting, guitar & vocals), Ram Ko (violin) and Zach Winn (guitar).
